The European Medal for the Mine

On the day of opening the season, 19th March 2010, the Mine was awarded the European Medal for its unique voyage throughout the history of Poland and Europe giving evidence to the social development of the continent and an exceptional lesson in nature, culture and mining technology.

The celebration of presenting the medals for services took place in Warsaw in the Olympic Centre of the Polish Olympic Committee. The Board Member for Economy and Finance, Tomasz Jachna, received the medal on behalf of the Management Board of the “Wieliczka” Salt Mine S.A.

The European Medal is awarded for services and products which meet the European standards, are an example of high quality and a model to follow. The Mine, apart from historical, educational and cognitive values, is an example of a modernly managed tourist attraction, honoured with numerous prestigious awards. It is the calling card for Poland, for the guests from all over the world – a tourist facility so popular that it is often associated with our country.

The European Economic and Social Committee, one of the most important institutions for businesses in the European Union, is the patron of the medal award celebration.

This prize is at the same time a recommendation given to the selected services by the Office of the Committee for European Integration, the Business Centre Club and the European Economic and Social Committee.
